Northern training and events in 2013
Here are dates and details of our upcoming training events across the North.
Manchester Feeding the 5,000
Saturday 15 June, 12-4pm. Picadilly Gardens, Manchester
Manchester Friends of the Earth will serve 5,000 members of the public a free, hot, nutritious lunch. The meal will be made entirely from ingredients that would otherwise have been wasted, such as fresh but cosmetically imperfect vegetables and fruits.
Feeding the 5,000 is an international campaign that will:
- highlight how easy it is to reduce the unimaginable levels of food waste in the UK and around the world
- demonstrate how governments, businesses and individuals can help.
The event organisers have created a menu that will include a delicious curry made from fresh, nutritious, and so-called wonky produce - stuff that would otherwise have been wasted. Volunteers will share information about simple solutions to food waste.
You're invited to take part in cooking as well as meeting organisations tackling food waste around Manchester.
Please email the event team to register for more details.
Future events
Join us on 12-14 July for BASECAMP, one of 3 events we're running this year in place of our Annual Conference.
Here you'll be able to:
- Skill up - share expertise, build and learn skills
- Meet up - with a broad spectrum of people with a common goal
- Have your say - in how we can campaign together to achieve our ambitions
- Rejuvenate - in the midst of some of the most beautiful scenery in Britain.
There'll be a range of creative, festival-inspired and thought-provoking activities throughout the weekend, and you can't fail to be inspired by our prize ceremony for local campaigning - the Earthmovers Awards.
Places are going fast so be sure to book yours at our new grassroots activism event before the deadline.
If you have any questions or suggestions please get in touch.
