Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
Meet at our campsite outside Haltwhislte and get to know the group over dinner and an evening briefing.
Transfers from Haltwhittle can be provided.
Day 2: Lanercost Priory to Nr Haltwhisle
After a good breakfast we'll transfer by coach to Lanercost Priory - our starting location for the trek.
We'll pass a couple of villages before climbing a steep ridge running alongside the wall. Then we'll push on towards Birdowald Roman Fort where we'll join a path next to the wall.
Following the wall into the Northumberland National Park, we'll shortly reach our lunch-stop at the Roman Army Museum before a spectacular afternoon climbing a cliff top route past Haltwhistle.
Day 3: Nr Haltwhistle to Brocolitia
After breakfast we'll climb back onto the ridge to head east, with great views of Wark Forest and the barren landscapes of Northumberland. Past crags and lakes we'll then reach Housesteads Roman Fort, where we'll break for lunch.
It's then a couple of hours to our finish location of Brocolitia, a former Roman auxiliary fort.
