Annual processes

The Motions process 2013

Motions are proposals from our local groups on what Friends of the Earth does and how it operates.

This year's Motions were prioritised on the Motions hub, before being debated and voted on at our annual activist grassroot event; Basecamp.

All five prioritised Motions were passed, as well as a Motion put forward by the Board and a reserve motion. Motions will now be looked at by the Board of Friends of the Earth to consider how these proposals can fit into the future of our work.

The passed Motions were:

  • Board Motion to review the current motions process
  • Campaign against fracking, proposed by East Antrim Friends of the Earth
  • Targeting companies to save our climate, proposed by Muswell Hill and Hornsey Friends of the Earth
  • Promotion of nature and awareness in campaigns, proposed by North Tyneside Friends of the Earth
  • Sustainable transport campaign, proposed by North Tyneside Friends of the Earth
  • Challenge authorities on infant leukaemia around nuclear power plants, proposed by Suffolk Coastal Friends of the Earth
  • Friends of the Earth and Diversity (reserve), proposed by Birmingham Friends of the Earth

Thanks to all groups who took part this year, in particular the groups who proposed and seconded Motions.
