Regional and National Gatherings

South West Summer Residential
20 April 2011

UPDATE: Due to a low number of advanced bookings we've had to cancel our planned residential regional gathering in the South West at Slapton from 17 - 19 June.

Instead we'll be hosting an all day get-together at the same venue on Saturday 18 June. We hope some of you can join us.

What

Join us for an informal day of discussions, workshops, skillshares, nature walks, friendship and inspiration.

  • Brush up on your campaigning skills and knowledge.
  • Learn more about the most pressing environmental challenges - from climate change and ocean acidification to waste, recycling, food and farming and how local groups can make an impact.
  • Network with local activists, Friends of the Earth staff and volunteers.

We'll update this page with a revised programme soon.

When

Saturday 18 June, start and end time tbc.

Where

Start Bay Activity Centre, Slapton, Devon.

Slapton is accessible by public transport (connecting buses operate from Totnes to Kingsbridge or Dartmouth).

We have sole use of the old Victorian school at the top of the hill in the small village of Slapton in the South Hams, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The area and coastline are full of spectacular scenery and a wide range of wildlife.

Book your place

If you'd like to attend on Saturday, please contact Katie by email or on 020 7566 1660 as soon as possible, and no later than Wednesday 15 June.

There is no fee to attend. If you can afford a voluntary contribution of £5 to help us with costs, it's appreciated.

Lunch and refreshements will be provided. How to get there

View a map.

UPDATE: please note, we're no longer able to provide lifts between Totnes station and the venue on Saturday. We may be able to help with car pooling - contact Katie asap if you need or can help us to arrange this.

Public transport: The nearest train station is Totnes. Take the X80/X81 bus service from Totnes to Dartmouth, then the 93 bus service to Slapton Turn.

The Start Bay Centre is a 20 minute walk past the Slapton Field Studies Study Centre, through the village of Slapton to the top of the hill.

Bicycle: It's possible to cycle from Totnes to the Centre, but be warned - it's hilly!

Car: Please contact Katie to arrange parking and access to the site if you wish to come by car.

Need accomodation on Friday night?
