Your location
A well-known venue or place will help you to increase numbers.
Consider public transport and accessibility - you should make it as easy as possible for people to get there.
Choosing a venue
Find one that's suitable for the event you're holding.
Make a list of the facilities you need - it's much more difficult to bring these in separately.
Don't forget about toilets.
Timings
Think about your audience and be aware of event clashes.
Don't hold a football tournament during the FA cup final, and avoid a pub quiz on The X Factor final night.
Piggy-back on key events
Hold an egg and spoon race at Easter, or a Halloween fancy dress competition.
Having a theme can really help make your event a success.
