Warm Homes: demand a better energy bill
19 April 2011

Saving energy from our homes saves cash, generates jobs, and is the cheapest and quickest way to cut carbon.

But £1 out of every £4 we spend heating our homes is wasted because of poor insulation - going straight back out through our walls, roofs and windows. This means millions can't afford to heat their homes - so they suffer high bills and ill health.

The Energy Bill is supposed to be the Government's answer.

It sets up the Green Deal - a new scheme where people will take out loans to improve their homes, repaid through savings on bills. It's a start, but is a very long way short of the level of ambition needed.

The UK needs a comprehensive strategy to insulate all our homes sufficiency to eradicate fuel poverty and meet our legal climate change targets.

We want the Bill to be amended so that the Government has to have a plan to deliver on those crucial goals.

Please ask your MP to support the Warm Homes Amendment.
