Climate Change

EU must lead on a strong, fair climate agreement in Durban
23 November 2011

Millions of the world's poorest people are already facing the impacts of climate change, including floods, famine and severe weather conditions.

The UN climate talks in Durban, South Africa, are well underway. These talks are critical if we are to prevent a climate catastrophe and protect millions of lives.

The EU and other rich developed countries are trying to dismantle the only international, legally-binding climate framework - the Kyoto ProtocolEurope needs to take a strong and fair stance in the climate talks to protect the planet and its people.

You can help

Ask Tomasz Chruszczow, Europe's lead negotiator in Durban, to make sure the EU:

  • Unconditionally supports a second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol.
  • Agrees to a legally-binding reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of at least 40% domestically by 2020.
  • Closes current loopholes, like carbon trading, which allow the EU to keep polluting.

We'll forward your emails to Tomasz.
