Ask your Euro MPs to grab chance to fix the food chain.
Politicians are rewriting the script for farming in Europe.
This presents a great chance to overhaul factory farming and support planet-friendly alternatives instead.
The CAP doesn't fit
Current rules and regulations (known as the Common Agricultural Policy) are propping up a broken system.
Meat and dairy farmers are forced to rely on imported soy animal feed from South America.
Reliance on soy causes:
- Wildlife and rainforest destruction abroad
- Climate changing emissions
- Serious health impacts in communities from the use of GM soy and associated pesticides
And now the price of soy is soaring - causing a crisis for meat and dairy farmers.
Home-grown solution
A new farming policy must promote the use of animal feeds that can be grown in Europe like protein cops and legumes.
It must also give support to more mixed farming and grazing which can benefit local wildlife and the climate.
And it must make sure farmers can make a viable living from planet-friendly farming.
Take action
Every Euro MP will have a say in the new CAP. Please urge yours to make sure it supports planet-friendly farming.
