Climate Change

Ask Lancashire Council to halt fracking until impacts understood
8 October 2012

Please email Lancashire County Council to call forĀ a full Environmental Impact Assessment before further fracking is allowed in the county.

Watch our video and find out more about fracking.

Cuadrilla , the company testing for shale gas in Lancashire, wants to extend its planning permission at one of its sites, allowing it to drill and test-frack until March 2014.

Evidence from the United States links fracking for shale gas to water contamination and air pollution.

And shale gas is a fossil fuel. More fossil fuels will make it virtually impossible to meet our legally-binding climate change targets. Instead we need to generate most of our electricity from renewable sources.

This is a vitally important test case. What happens in Lancashire could affect what happens in the rest of the country.

Please email Lancashire County Council to object to Cuadrilla's planning application.
