Ask Samsung to follow words with action18 April 2013
Friends of the Earth supporters have forced Samsung to examine its products.
The world's biggest-selling smartphone company has revealed that it does use tin from Bangka Island.
Tin mining in Bangka, Indonesia is trashing tropical forests, coral reefs and many local livelihoods.
Convincing a multi-billion pound company like Samsung to face up to problems in its supply chain is an incredible achievement.
We must now make sure that Samsung follows up on its promise to help the people and environment of Bangka.
We also need new laws to stop the problems on Bangka happening elsewhere. You can make an important start to making sure all companies have to be open about problems in their supply chains.
Please email Samsung to let it know you expect meaningful action on Bangka. And urge it to work with Friends of the Earth to support these important laws.
Please email Samsung now
