Project Overview
Thank you to all the Brownies, Guides and Senior Section members who took part in Friends of the Earth’s Be a Climate Champion project.
They also provided valuable insights into what’s stopping more people from adopting climate-friendly habits. Our report Girls Get Serious About Climate Change (PDF) presents the findings of the first 1,028 girls to take part – and makes recommendations to help councils address the barriers the girls’ efforts have revealed.

On 5 December 2009, Charis Gates from 1st Streatham Hill Guides joined Friends of the Earth at the biggest ever march on climate change. Watch Charis’s video diary here.
The fantastic response to this project showed that girls are concerned about climate change and want to do what they can to help. The good news is that there are lots of things we can do – but lack of awareness and other barriers are hindering their uptake. Friends of the Earth is asking local authorities and others to play their part in enabling everyone to cut their carbon emissions.
