Kate Pickett - guest speaker at our annual conference
I'm really excited that I had the chance to interview Kate Pickett, who'll be one of the main speakers at our annual gathering in September.
Kate is author of The Spirit Level: Why Equality is Better for Everyone.
It's not just another book to put the world to rights. With her partner Richard Wilkinson, Kate Pickett set off on a long journey of investigation to see if it's possible to improve the quality of life for everyone in our societies. Between them they notched up more than 50 person-years of research.
Kate will be speaking on the Sunday afternoon at our annual conference on how equality and a healthy planet for everyone are closely linked. I think her speech will be important and inspiring for the work we do. I'm really looking forward to it.
Our annual conference will run from 9 to 11 September in Nottingham. It brings together local groups, activists, guest speakers, staff and volunteers. This year's gathering will be special as we're celebrating 40 years of campaigning. We have a packed programme of training, workshops, panel discussions, networking, a green fair and of course our 40th anniversary party on Saturday evening. Bookings are open and places are limited - so get on board soon.
