Easy peasy lemon squeezy

Will you buy a lemon on Pancake Day? If you're anything like me, you'll know what it's like to use a few drops of lemon for a recipe, then let the rest go manky in the fridge.

But the humble lemon is a revelation - you can use it in all kinds of cleaning, health and beauty recipes. Its acidic and antiseptic properties mean it's a great alternative to shop-bought products. So if you want to try and reduce your resource consumption, cut down on waste and the resources you use, why not try our 40 handy lemon tips.

My top tip for making your lemons go further - and avoiding the manky lemon scenario - if you only need a few drops, pierce the skin with a skewer and squeeze. This will keep the rest of the fruit nice and juicy, just in case you don't need your ice and a slice straight away for that organic Gin & Tonic.
