Good news. Russell Howard returns

See the words 'Russell Howard' and 'Good News' and you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd glanced at a TV listing.

But this time you'd be wrong. For our Russell Howard Good News is that we've just had the phone call to say that the 'Mock the Week' star and all-round funny man Russell Howard has joined the amazing line-up for our comedy gig Laugh or the Polar Bear Gets It.

Listen carefully and you might hear the sound of champagne corks a-popping at the Friends of the Earth offices. We are EXCITED.

It was before my time, sadly, but colleagues tell me Russell's set during our 2009 comedy gig LIVEstock was fantastic - so everyone is really, really chuffed he's decided to support us again.

I had pretty stellar Row B seats to see Russell at the O2 Arena earlier this year. He was very, very good. And I learnt not to be taken in by his sweet, innocent-looking face. The man is not afraid of upsetting niceties in pursuit of tear-inducing laughter.

So it looks like our Laugh or the Polar Bear Gets It line-up is complete. 9 comedians + 1 singer + 1 compère = a very good night ahead.
