Climate Change
Birmngham Friends of the Earth campaign toward a sustainable future by addressing climate change at the forefront of many of our campaigns.
- The Problem: for more than 200 years, the UK, along with the rest of the developed world, has been burning ever-increasing amounts of coal, oil and gas to heat our homes, fuel our transport and run our industries. This is unsustainable.
- The Solution: solutions to the problem can be applied at a number of levels. On the international level, we need a strong climate treaty that aims to reduce emissions so that the world's temperature rises by less than 1.5 degrees. Nationally, we need more legal, enforceable policies, that we aim to get by lobbying.
- Take Action: Birmingham Friends of the Earth has an Action Group working on these issues. We want to get more energy coming from "renewables"; wind, sun, ground heat, or from waste, which are low or zero carbon.
See the Climate Change section on our dedicated website for further information, and more of our campaigning efforts.
