Friends of the Earth > Local Groups > Blackwater Valley
This exciting campaign was very successful last year and will continue in 2013. The group will be campaigning to increase the bee population by maintaining and improving the biodiversity of their habitat. We will be asking people throughout the summer to sign cards to David Cameron asking him to implement a National Bee Plan. On Saturday May 4th we had a Bee Walk around the three main parks of Aldershot. This started at Princes Gardens opposite Princes Hall and looked at what Rushmoor Borough Council can do to improve the habitat for the bee. On the walk we announced the start of a Bee World which is an area of public land which will be planted with bee friendly flowers, plants and habitats, kindly donated by Rushmoor.
The great news is that the Government has listened and has recently announced a National Pollinator Plan. We are now lobbying to make sure it has everything we want included.
