This is one of our campaigns for 2013 following on from last year's successful Final Demand where we campaigned for a public inquiry into the behaviour of the Big Six energy companies - how they are addicted to fossil fuel burning and nuclear power. CBE is persuading businesses and the private consumer to switch to the smaller 100% renewable British energy companies such as Good Energy and Ecotricity (the majority of the big six are foreign owned).
The Energy Bill is having its final reading this year and so our efforts are focussed on making sure it is greened with renewable legislation. Although an amendment calling on MPs to ensure that the Bill has a 20% energy from renewables target failed in the spring, a similar amendment has been introduced in the Lords this autumn. With the help of you we can make this succeed.
