Friends of the Earth > Local Groups > Bolton
Our event on Sunday 10th. Oct. was one of over 7300, in nearly every country in the world, organised for "350", the online climate campaign. It was part of their Global Work Party - a day of practical action to fight climate change and an example to world leaders who should also be getting to work on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
We got together at Ainsdale Road Community Allotment in Great Lever to plant some hawthorn trees which will absorb Carbon dioxide as they grow as well as being a habitat for wildlife. We also had a low carbon lunch of vegetable quiche. Our pictures were emailed to the 350 and 10:10 websites. The Bolton Journal printed the 350 photo and local radio station 96.5 Bolton FM very kindly gave us an interview.
