Bury FoE took part in the national campaign to ask the Government for a strong and sustainable renewable energy strategy.
We need to move away from burning fossil fuels that carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and instead harness the vast renewable energy potential - sun, wind, tides and waves - that we have in the UK. This will give us a clean, secure and long lasting energy supply.
All over the country, community groups, businesses and organisations from all walks of life including ones from the Bury area backed the campaign for an energy revolution.
Our hard work paid off as the Government has said it will change the rules to prioritise renewables. You can read more about the campaign success at the national FoE website.
If your group or business took part thank you very much for helping us win this campaign.
Now we need the Government to act on its promises. The Government must make sure councils approve more green energy projects and put climate change at the heart of the planning system. Ask the Secretary of State for Communities to get serious about green energy.
