Friends of the Earth > Local Groups > Elmbridge
The group regularly holds action days - the most recent one was in Claygate raising awareness of the Fix the Food Chain campaign: http://www.foe.co.uk/campaigns/biodiversity/news/fix_food_chain_20576.html
Essentially the campaign asks people to think about where the food they eat comes from, and to raise awareness about the fact some meat is intensively reared in factory farms and the animals are fed on soya grown on land previously occupied by rainforests.
It is not asking consumers to not eat meat but eat better quality meat. If you buy your meat from a Farmer's market or butcher ask them where it's been reared and on what. You may end up paying a bit more but the quality will be so much better. Kingsland Edwardian Butchers in Walton-on-Thames supplies free range pork for example. Do let us know of other butchers in the area you recommend.
