Hackney and Tower Hamlets FoE and the Arcola Theatre are launching a series of monthly, expert-led, talks around exciting and challenging aspects of sustainability. Our overarching theme will be innovation, and tangible solutions to the sustainability issues of both today and tomorrow.
Our first speaker on 28 April is Sue Riddlestone, Co-Founder and Executive Director of BioRegional. Sue will be posing the question - Can we achieve One Planet Living in Hackney?
We acknowledge that business as usual - in economics, politics, technology and consumption - cannot continue if we are to convincingly move towards a sustainable and fair world for all. It's time to develop the vision of the future and start focusing on how we're going to get there: will it be through legislative pressure, technological innovation, community activism, or political upheaval? If we need multiple, simultaneous approaches, how will those fit together?
Our series of discussions will engage and challenge audiences to tackle the 'how' of a low carbon economy by introducing new, exciting and potentially difficult aspects of sustainability.
