Get Serious about CO2The local group is participating in the Get Serious About CO2 campaign that was launched nationally in late June. The campaign aims to encourage people to write to their local councils calling for a 40% reduction in CO2 by 2020. More >
Harrogate & District Friends of the Earth are part of a national network of over 200 local Friends of the Earth groups throughout the country.
Our group consists entirely of volunteers, and our campaigns are funded by membership, individual donations and charitable grants. We always welcome new supporters and active members, so please come along to one of our regular meetings and get involved!
Next meeting is on Thursday 25th February 2010, 7:30pm at The Park, Hornbeam Park, Harrogate. If this is your first Harrogate FoE meeting it would be a good idea to call 01423 870333 first.
Over the past few years Harrogate and District Friends of the Earth have achieved a number of successes in the local community. We successfully lobbied Harrogate Council to become the first in the UK to adopt FOE's 40% by 2020 'Get Serious About CO2' target. Harrogate FoE initiated and was central to the successful ‘Harrogate Car Free Day'. We played a small part nationally in persuading local MPs to support a strong Climate Bill and getting their initial support for the Marine Bill.
