Harrogate and District Friends of the Earth are part of a national network of over 200 local Friends of the Earth groups throughout the country.

Our group consists entirely of volunteers, and our campaigns are funded by membership, individual donations and charitable grants. We always welcome new supporters and active members, so please come along to one of our regular meetings and get involved!

Meetings are normally held on the fourth Thursday of the month, at 7:30pm at 18, Rossett Park Road, Harrogate HG2 9NP. If this is your first Harrogate Friends of the Earth meeting it would be a good idea to call 01423 541528 first.

Over the past few years Harrogate Friends of the Earth have achieved a number of successes in the local community. We successfully lobbied Harrogate Borough Council to become the first in the UK to adopt FOE's 40% by 2020 'Get Serious About CO2' target. Harrogate Friends of the Earth initiated and was central to the successful 'Harrogate Car Free Day'. We played a small part nationally in persuading local MPs to support a strong Climate Bill and getting their initial support for the Marine Bill. We are currently working with the Council to achieve major improvements in local recycling.

Harrogate District Friends of the Earth is a licenced local group of Friends of the Earth England, Wales & Northern Ireland.
