Get Serious about CO2
Get Serious about CO2
The local group is participating in the Get Serious About CO2 campaign that was launched nationally in late June. The campaign aims to encourage people to write to their local councils calling for a 40% reduction in CO2 by 2020. Harrogate FoE has been working behind the scenes on supporting the Council in developing their new Climate Change Strategy.
Harrogate Car Free Day - 22nd September 2009
Last year, Harrogate joined thousands of towns and cities across Europe to take part in the towns first ever Car Free Day. Widespread support from all parts of the community resulted in the town's roads being noticeably quieter at peak times. The Council's traffic monitoring systems revealed that were over 2,400 less cars on three of the town's roads for that day. As part of the organising committee, the local group is busy helping to organise a bigger and better day in September 2009!
New Website Launched
As part of a National FoE pilot scheme, the local group has been able to launch its own website. We hope it keep local residents informed about local environmental issues and encourage more people to take action.
Harrogate District Friends of the Earth is a licenced local group of Friends of the Earth England, Wales & Northern Ireland.
These local group pages are maintained by the groups themselves. Please contact the local group in the first instance.
