About us

When and where?

We meet on the third Tuesday of every month, at Fairkytes, 51 Billet Lane, Hornchurch. RM11 1AX

The meeting is held upstairs in room 9 and anyone can come along - your first two meetings are free.

We start at 7.30 PM and have a break for tea after an hour. We aim to finish at 9.30 PM.

How to find Fairkytes

Fairkytes is a few hundred yards up Billet Lane going from Sainsbury's in Hornchurch High Street.

Buses 165, 193 and 248 go along the High Street. You could also get a 165, 256 or 370 along North Street and cut through the footpath alongside the Queen's Theatre Green.

About this group

As Havering's only environmental group, we have been campaigning to save bees from dying out by encouraging people to plant bee-friendly flowers and to stop using pesticides.

We are trying to get Havering Council to recycle more plastics.

We have bi-annual meetings with the council to discuss biodiversity and other related issues.

Another concern of ours is to save Havering's green spaces from encroachment by so-called landfill 'improvements' and other money making ventures.

We also debate national issues such as renewable energy and lobby our local MPs.

Matters of importance to smaller, local, communities are also very much on the agenda, so that recently we have been responsible for getting extra recycling facilities on an estate in Romford which includes high rise flats.

We run stalls at local events such as at the Havering Show and the Farmers' Market at Thames Chase.
