No charity bags thank you!

Some charities deliver plastic bags to every household, in the hope that people will fill them with clothes etc. for collection. Although the blurb may state that unused bags will also be collected, few van drivers seem to bother. So many bags end up either littering the streets or being thrown away by the householder.

We want to encourage charities to move away from this wasteful practice, in favour of supplying paper labels which can be attached to any suitable bag for donations. If not used, these can simply be recycled with other paper waste. At the same time we will encourage householders who never donate in this way to display a request that no charity bags be supplied.
