Planting trees

We have been gradually enriching the biodiversity of a former railway embankment next to the Barmston Drain in an industrial area of Hull, by planting native species of trees and wild flowers. The trees are grown to sapling size on an allotment managed by Hull FoE member David and theYorkshire Wildlife Trust. David then prepares the ground and transports the trees ready for us to do the fun bit which is the planting! This year we were lucky to get a fine day between heavy rain and hard frost, and got a good turn out of 18 people.

In April we shall be planting wild flowers in a disused cemetery nearby. If practical action in the open air is your sort of thing get in touch.

We can also find plenty for you to do on our allotment!
