Islington Friends of the Earth campaigns on local, national and international environmental issues that affect the borough of Islington. We provide an opportunity for people to come together and campaign about the issues they feel most passionate about.
If you're concerned about the environment in Islington or how global environmental issues may impact upon your life in Islington, then do get involved. We are a diverse group who welcome everyone with an interest in the borough of Islington and the environment as members.
Membership costs anything between five and twelve pounds, or a pledge of time.
Our focus of recent activity has been on climate change. We are working on the 'Get Serious about CO2' campaign and are running a local bottled water campaign. For information about our current activities and events, please see our website: www.islingtonfoe.blogspot.com
We have also campaigned on recycling, particularly at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal's football ground, which was built with no recycling facilities for 65,000 spectators and have worked with local residents campaigning to make Newington Green the first plastic bag free area in London.
