Our meetings are normally on the first Tuesday of the month and are held at the Pomegranate Cafe on Great George Street. We meet at 6.30pm for tea at the cafe (you can order dinner or a snack), and the meeting starts at 7pm. If you would like to pre-order food or double check meeting arrangements (recommended, as we occasionally have to cancel), please call Rachel on 07917 358796.
New members always very welcome, so why not come down and see what we're up to.
Leeds Friends of the Earth are a friendly campaign group - we support solutions to environmental problems.
We work on local and national issues, and in the past we have successfully campaigned for Leeds City Council to cut city wide CO2 emissions by 40% by 2020, supported Hook Moor Wind turbine in East Leeds, and campaigned creatively on the national "Food Chain" campaign.
Our group has a long history of creative, effective, (and sometimes very silly) stunts to grab public & media attention - and we've been painting quite a few props and banners and had lots of fun with some stunts recently!
We are part of an ongoing campaign against the the councils plans for an mega-incinerator, and welcome new people with ideas for new campaigns and projects. So if you're interested in the incinerator campaign, our new national Final Demand campaign, or any local issues, then please do get in touch.Leeds Friends of the Earth is a licenced local group of Friends of the Earth England, Wales & Northern Ireland.
