About us

When and where?

We meet at 7.30pm, every 3rd Tuesday of the month, at the Adult Education Centre, Wellington Street, Leicester.

About this group

Leicester FoE covers the City of Leicester and all those areas of the County that do not have their own local group (see local groups list for those that do). Last year we received an award at the annual Local Groups Conference, as Group of the Year. Annual membership is £10, but you don't need to be a member to come along to meetings, to see what we are doing.

Major current campaigning areas are climate change, opposing unsustainable bio-fuels (helped by Abigail, the Leicester FoE orang-utan), opposing the County Council's plans to incinerate much of the County's waste and opposing local "eco-town" proposals (as they are using the "eco" lable to justify unnecessary greenfield development). We are also intending to get involved in the new Marine Reserves Campaign, to try to get a network of marine resrves included in the forthcoming Marine Bill. Much more on these and other issues can be found on our brand new website, at http://www.leicesterfoe.org.uk.
