Bee meadow mowing - 27th September 2013

Neill reported that our bee meadow on Troon Way is still flowering. It now needs to be mown and the cut material removed so that it does not feed the soil and increase fertility, which would encourage the grass at the expense of the wildflowers. The Wildlife Trust will mow the meadow on 27th September and Neill has contacted Leicester City Council to ask if they can remove the cut material and he is waiting for their response. We are also hoping that the City Council is going to plant 4000m2 of wildflower meadow alongside our meadow, as they promised, but they have not yet planned the planting.
