Notes on the Liverpool Friends Of The Earth group Meeting Held On 18.11.2009, 18:55 to 20:00
At The Green Fish Cafe

The group meeting followed on from the Annual General Meeting.
1. Summary by Frank Kennedy of the individual exercises completed earlier.
Positive contributions falling in 3 main areas- a/ national campaigns, b/ supporting and networking, c/ reaching out and education awareness.
2.Group split and members joined one of the above 3 areas of interest.
Feedback was: a/ local action, connecting and sharing, event related feedback cards given in (will summarise and send out by e-mail) b/ Liverpool City Council commission report about Liverpool greening; co-operation and communication c/ events, constant news presence re: message from group.
Action points: power point presentation for next meeting; Frank Kennedy discussed availability of theatre group to do awareness raising; Mark Anders suggested compilation of talk topics; Secretary to e-mail discussion points.
3. Agreement was reached with the cafe owner to receive £15 per meeting which includes cafe hire time and refreshments (Dave's contribution to 'FOE').
4. Web site link to Google 'FOE' to be circulated.
5. London Wave 05.12.09 buses departing 1am and return 10pm via University £15 fare. FOE bus leaving from Childwall 5:30am, £20 fare. Also event scheduled to be held at Liverpool St Luke's church site.
6. Next Duncan Society lecture will be on 09.12.2009 re: Liverpool Sustainability at the Quaker Meeting House, 6pm. 'FOE' stall will contain Get Serious cards and newsletters.
7. Xmas meeting will be more of a wine and food event for group members (e-mail to be sent by Secretary to absent group members and then confirm with Treasurer).
8. Next set of 'FOE' group meetings will see council representatives attend (Frank Kennedy actioning).
January- Liberal Democrats: Berni Turner
February- Labour party representative
March- Green Party representative
April- Conservative party representative
9. There will be a Regional 'FOE' meeting on 16.01.2010 at Preston County Hall.
10/ Winter Survival open day will be held at St Georges Hall, 10:30 to 14:30. Secretary will be attending 9;30 to 10:30 to set up 'FOE' stall, Frank Kennedy able to cover 10am to 12 noon and Katie Boocock will cover the whole session. Treasurer agreed that up to £100 could be spent on promotional give-aways, if appropriate (Secretary and Ms Boocock to review available material).
11/ There will be a Merseytravel Health, Transport and Environment meeting on December 11th between 10am and 12:30 noon at 24 Hatton Gardens. Several FOE members will attend.
12/ There is to be a Green Communities event at the Aldephi Hotel (sorry no other details).
13/ Discussion of the Shanghai World Exposition: 'LCC' taking 90 staff cost of £1.5 million. What benefit will be derived?? Rebecca Lawson suggested getting the 'LCC' to sign up in terms of limiting CO2 emissions.
14/ Friends of the Earth, Ireland: public engagement via web page.
15/ Katie Boocock mentioned work she is doing with Oxfam and next meeting of Oxfam group 19.11.09 (sorry no other details).
