North Tyneside Friends of the Earth has launched a local campaign to make sure North Tyneside Council gets serious about CO2.
North Tyneside Council published a Climate Change Strategy just after the mayoral election, but we have not yet had assurances from the new Mayor, Linda Arkley, that she will adopt this strategy. We have written to her asking her for her views.
The local campaign is part of a national effort to get local councils to take urgent steps towards a low-carbon economy.
We have issued a Press release to the News Guardian forecasting that more than 80 new jobs would be created if the council did extra work on insulating homes and installing green energy.
North Tyneside Friends of the Earth is a licenced local group of Friends of the Earth England, Wales & Northern Ireland.
