Building the Buzz at the Great North Museum: Hancock

Had a fabulous time at the Great North Museum: Hancock on Saturday. Quentin Given, campaign coordinator, and Sandra Bell, senior nature campaigner both travelled up from National Friends of the Earth London, to speak at our event. We also heard from Dr Pier Paoli from Newcastle University who gave some insight into Bees and how their nutritional supplies within the UK could be improved with wild flower planting. Pleased we're planting Bee Worlds around the UK! Thanks to all involved and those who came from far and wide. The beekeepers came with their bees. We were candle making with beeswax, planting bee-friendly seeds, creating the first pages of our giant bee cartoon - Blossoms Adventurous Day, honey tasting and bee games. All whilst saving the bees! Newcastle MP Chi Onwurah signed up to the Bee Cause Campaign (hurray!) and planted a Forsythia tree in our Bee World garden. Fantastic! Many thanks to Carla Doran our Friends of the Earth network developer for doing such a stirling job organising the whole event, totally amazing.x

The Journal had a write up  about our collaborative Building the Buzz : Great North Museum: Hancock event on Monday 25th March, page 8. Holly Musgrove (North Tyneside Friends of the Earth member) and Simon Bowens (Friends of the Earth Campaigner) were pictured in giant bee costumes alongside Newcastle MP Chi Onwurah as she planted a Forsythia tree, see the event in our photos section.

Another sowing seeds event at the GNM:Hancock will be posted here soon.....
