About us

When and where?

We meet monthly (usually the third Tuesday of the month) at the Assembly Rooms, Poplar Street in Solihull. Pease email us at solihullfoe@gmail.com to confirm arrangements.

About this group

Solihull Friends of the Earth are a new local branch of the UK's most influential environmental campaigning organisation.

Come along to our meetings and campaign events and be a part of our green adventure!

We are currently:

  • Campaigning for there to be a shift to renewable energy and increasing energy efficiency in conjuction with the wider energy campaign to be launched by national Friends of the Earth.
  • Investigating the consequences of the Localism Bill for Solihull.
  • Promoting multi-faith work on the environment with Birmimgham FOE and Solihull Council - see http://www.birminghamfoe.org.uk
  • Discussing local transport in Solihull
  • Continuing our campaign to promote local food.

We have:

  • Worked with Solihull Council to create a local/fairtrade food services directory which has been recently published.
  • Supported the efforts of Solihull Council to obtain Fairtrade status which has been successfully achieved
  • Submitted our response to the HS2 proposals as a stakeholder in the community.
  • Discussed the Energy bill that is currently going through parliament and our views are available online via http://solihullfoe.blogspot.com.
  • Taken part in recent Plant Swap and Go Green Fair events.
