Lower Alt Wind Farm

Trevor Hunter of Coriolis Energy came along to our April meeting and told us about the proposed Lower Alt Wind Farm. Twenty four 130m high turbines are proposed on part of the Leverhulme estate between Great Altcar and Lydiate. Each of these would generate around 2MegaWatts, in total enough to power about 27,000 houses. Trevor anticipates a number of objections, and helped dispell some of the myths about wind turbines. He expects a formal planning application to be submitted towards the end of this year.
