One big development, one small campaign win

The huge St Ann's Hospital site is going to be redeveloped to provide a mix of health services, housing and other services including a district heating system that is supposed to help reduce carbon emissions from the development and potentially surrounding areas too.

So we were surprised that the environmental assessment made no mention of carbon emissions, climate change or anything related - and we took this up with the Planning Officer Jill Warren. Jill agrees with us, and the Council will be telling the developers that they need to include climate and carbon in their assessment.

In 2012 we shouldn't have to be reminding people that climate change is an issue, but hey.....
