The national Bee Cause campaign
Friends of the Earth is calling on the government to create a Bee Action Plan to protect bees, and the campaign is making good progress nationally. Locally, David Lammy MP has signed the statement of support and we are seeking a meeting with Lynne Featherstone MP. We will then be doing some petitioning up in Southgate to press David Burrowes, the Tory MP there, to sign.

Ermine Road open space - near South Tottenham Station
This has been saved from development for now, but could be threatened again in future. We are talking to the Council about how to secure it long-term. We'll organise a site visit soon so people can see what we could lose.

Tottenham Cemetery
We also recently wrote to Dignity, the company that is now running cemeteries, about the works to the lake in Tottenham Cemetery. It looks like they will now take action to secure a safe place for waterfowl to nest this spring, while the reed-bed they are planting - which should offer improved habitat in future - takes shape.

Haringey 40:20
Haringey's low carbon plans continue to evolve: during March free home energy efficiency audits were offered and work is underway to establish a trustworthy home retrofit programme; and the renewable energy co-op En10ergy in Muswell Hill is looking at how to roll out PV panels across schools and homes across the borough.
