About us

When and where?

Our next meeting date is Tuesday 20th March at 7.45 pm for 8 pm, in central Watford.

About this group

The group has been established for 33 years. Our activities cover the areas of Watford Borough Council and Three Rivers District Council.

We occasionally organise visits to local environmental organisations such as Renewable Energy Systems of Kings Langley (whose wind turbine can be seen from the M25), and the Integer House at BRE Ltd.

The group has campaigned on a number of local and national issues, including:

  • Projects to save energy and to use renewable sources.
  • Conserving open spaces and wild life.
  • Waste minimisation and recycling.

During 2011 we have lobbied our two local MPs, to improve the Energy Bill which has been going through Parliament, and oppose the changes to the solar power "Feed  In Tariff".

We have recently had:

  • an all day stall in Watford's Harlequin Centre, where we had a "Big Energy Conversation" with shoppers and provided activities for their children
  • a fascinating public meeting about bees.

Watford and Three Rivers Friends of the Earth is a licenced local group of Friends of the Earth England, Wales & Northern Ireland.
