Ten enthusiastic members of York and Ryedale Friends of the Earth group decked in blue joined over 50,000 people from all over the UK at The Wave march last Saturday to call on the Government to Act Fair and Act Fast on Climate Change in Copenhagen.
The day started very early in the dark on the coach down to London with around 100 other people from York - including the brilliant York Samba band. Fairtrade nibbles, blue face painting and hints of samba music got us in the mood and kept us going during the six hour journey

For those of us who had been to climate demonstrations before the number of people on the march was incredible with people of every age and background present. It was a sea of blue across Grovesner Square where we started and a snake of blue miles long stretched through London. Some people had gone to extra lengths to join in the colour scheme with every centimetre of their faces painted bright blue.
There was a feeling of hope, of a movement watching and calling for change...lets hope that all of those thousands of people are listened to at Copenhagen. Keep watching!

"Sue (Lister) and Ann (Murray) were inspired by the multitude of different messages, people, ages, cultures and music - all flowing together in solidarity, carrying their warning in a many-coloured wave to Parliament: DANGER! CLIFF EDGE AHEAD....BEWARE LEMMINGS!"
