Back to School

Yep, it's that time again and to kick off the school year we've come up with some top tips to help you go green this autumn.

  • On your bike
Don't ask for a lift to school, get on your bike.  Why not encourage your friends to cycle or walk to school. Check out the Safe routes to school website or join the National Walk to school week starting on Monday 2nd October.

  • Make your own recycled paper
Get together with your friends and ask a teacher if you can make your own recycled paper. Here's how.

  •  Switch off after homework
Turn your computer off when you've finished using it - items such as computers consume 85 percent of their total energy while on standby.

  • Are you a bookworm?
Instead of buying new books, start a book-sharing club with friends. Sharing books saves resources and money!
Donate old text books to charity shops like Oxfam or ask your school if they will be able to re-use them for other classes.

  • Grow your own veggies
Get your hands dirty with friends, whilst looking after the environment. Ask your school to start a vegetable garden and you'll soon be able to eat fresh food without clocking up any food miles.
