Penguin Power5 May 2010
The Environment Group at Didcot Girls' School sent out a powerful message about climate solutions during Shout about week.
Their idea was fun and exciting, educational and thought-provoking. It was a play involving (human-sized) penguins.
The whole world is changing. The climate is different. People and animals everywhere will be affected.
Pupil, Didcot Girls' School
What about the penguins? was written by the Environment Group to show the school how classroom temperatures can affect polar temperatures.
Teachers and students were told how to:
- Reduce their classrooms' energy use by turning down radiators.
- Use natural light.
- Switch off computers that are not in use.
It was so popular that they were asked to perform not once, but 3 times during Shout about week.
The penguins, and the School Environment Group, certainly got their message across.
