Just add water5 May 2010
That's what pupils from Newquay Tretherras Secondary School did when they made their own turbines during Shout about week.
A few recycled materials, a bit of help from instructor David Knight and some simple engineering. The result? Mini water-driven turbines powerful enough to run LED lights.
I was amazed to find you can make electricity just using old, recycled materials (and water).
Stephanie
After testing the turbines under a tap, they took them down to a nearby stream to put them through their paces - that's when the fun really began!
The project was part of a two-day visit to Carnyorth Environmental Education Centre to learn about different solutions to climate change.
Students came away from their visit with a greater understanding of renewable energy, and also feeling inspired and empowered.
