Sending out a press release

Doing something in your local area to make a difference?

Let the world know about it.

Get the local media to cover what you are doing. It's a great way of spreading the word and you can encourage more people to get involved.

Here are a few ways to contact the local newspapers, radio or TV:

  • write a letter to the local media contact - details can often be found online
  • offer to give an interview
  • send out a press release
  • invite them to film or take pictures at your event.

For step-by-step tips on writing a press release, download our how to guide (PDF format - 80K) or ask a teacher, youth worker or parent to download it for you.
