"Do nothing"

How often does a book with an environmental message tell you to do that? Well that's exactly what Ken Finn urges us to do after his incredible journey to discover more about the fabled spirit trees of Cambodia.

The conviction which turned Finn from professional hairdresser to campaigner really shines through in his story-telling, and quickly infects the reader.

My journey with a remarkable tree is written with charisma and passion. Finn's accessible style and dark humour lead you through the bite-sized chapters, illustrated with some charming snaps - unfortunately though, not in colour.

His fascination with trees takes him to the remote north of Cambodia, where he uncovers the senseless destruction of ancient trees ripped down to fuel the insatiable demand of western markets.

So why should you care?

The journey of the book title takes us from forest, wood mill and processing plant, and brings us back home to our local DIYstore and garden centre. So that we can sit in our garden on chairs made from the trees that are the stars of this book.

That's why we should care - as western consumers, we're the ones that can make a difference to the destruction of ancient trees.

Take action - or maybe not?

The book ends with a clear and redeeming message. By doing nothing and not buying illegally-sourced garden furniture, we can be sure that we're not contributing to this destruction. Or if you must buy, only buy Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certified products.

Buy book, donate money

This ancient forest friendly book, printed on 30% FSC certified paper and the remainder on paper that is from legal sources, can make a real difference.

By uncovering those responsible and highlighting the links to the UK, his deeply personal story can help translate despair into action to help save these magnificent forests. This book will empower you to make a difference.
