All about my mother20 July 2009
Phyllis Quick was born in London in 1917, but spent a lot of her working life on a farm.
For many years, she and her husband reared poultry, before moving on to run a sailing business.
After her husband's death in 1996, Phyllis moved to Totnes, in Devon, where she became interested in environmental issues.
And when Phyllis died aged 91, she did something amazing: she left £50,000 to Friends of the Earth.
Her daughter Allison says:
Nothing is more important for your family's future than the environment and that's why my mother left a legacy gift to Friends of the Earth. She wanted to make sure there was a world for her grandchildren to enjoy.
All your gifts are extremely important to us and will help us continue our vital work. Please read our legacy page for further information.
