Try to choose products and gifts that don't rely on batteries. You can buy all sorts of wind-up or solar-powered gadgets including radios, torches, calculators, phone chargers, toys and garden lights. If you really can't avoid batteries, choose rechargeable ones - they'll save you money in the long run. Look for solar powered rechargers if you want to reduce your environmental impact even further.
