Preparing your bonfire
Hedgehog numbers have declined by 25% in just 10 years, and with Bonfire Night approaching, you can help protect our prickly friends. Where possible, re-site the entire pile before lighting. Alternatively, use broom handles to lift from the base of the pile, and shine torches to look for signs of life. Then light from one side only to give anything missed one final chance of escape.
