Join the Food Chain revolution18 March 2009
The meat and dairy industry now produces 18 per cent of the world's climate changing gases. That's more than all the planes, trains and automobiles put together...
And it's all down to a hidden food chain stretching from the rainforests of South America to UK factory farms - one we urgently need to change.
The fact is we're all being kept in the dark about a system of producing food that;
-
destroys rainforest
-
wipes out wildlife
-
contributes massively to climate change.
It drives local people into poverty and denies UK farmers the chance of making any real profit. Not only that, but billions of our money is spent in subsides to keep it all going.
That's why Friends of the Earth has recently launched The Food Chain: a campaign to revolutionise the meat and dairy industry in the UK and, ultimately, worldwide.

We want the Government to support good food, thriving farms and a healthy planet.
The prospect is daunting but thanks to supporters like you we know we can do it. 200,000 of you supported our Big Ask climate campaign and like the Big Ask we plan to get MPs to change the system through the law.
With your support we know we can persuade politicians to get tough on polluting industries.
Two things you can do to help our Food Chain campaign today
1) Donate now and support our work to expose this destructive chain
2) Take action to reform the food chain
