Leicester group launches Green Manifesto
8 March 2010

The Manifesto sets out the policies they'd like to see adopted by the Council.

These policies include:

  • Free insulation for every household.
  • A 5% year on year reduction in car journeys in the city.
  • Improved safety for cyclists.

They presented a giant copy of the manifesto to the Leader of the Council outside the Town Hall in Leicester.

The group also handed over a large number of campaign postcards signed by members of the public to the Leader of the Council.

Leicester Friends of the Earth also created an online petition calling on the Council to adopt the policies in their manifesto to Get Serious About CO2.

A Facebook group was also set up for members of the public to show their support.

You can find out more about the group's Get Serious About CO2 campaign on their website.
