Successful Earth Course pilot22 March 2012
Over 6 weeks during January and February, 15 people came together to take part in the Earth Course. They found out more about what they could do to make a difference.
Earth Course is a new project for Friends of the Earth. It is designed to:
- Enable people to find out a bit more about the big environmental issues
- Work out for themselves what they want to do next
What was it like?
The Earth Course has been something I've looked forward to each and every week.
Participant, February 2012
The Earth Course focused on a different topic each week - from climate change to looking at local environmental projects. At the end of the course, everyone committed to 3 actions that they would do as a result of what they'd learnt.
I found the course welcoming and friendly and it brought up lots of ideas and issues I hadn't thought about at length before.

What do our facilitators think?
Tony and Jen from Hackney and Tower Hamlets Friends of the Earth local group were facilitators for the Earth Course. How did they find the experience?
It was thoroughly enjoyable, thought-provoking and empowering. I had never facilitated a course like this before but Friends of the Earth had done a great job of putting the whole thing together.
Tony
Energising, motivating and fun. I got involved for an interesting challenge and really enjoyed facilitating ... particularly seeing participants share opinions, ideas and action plans.
